March 4, 2013
To celebrate Women’s History Month in March, the city’s youth and education channel, know99 Television, is airing the series, “A History of Women’s Achievement in America,” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday.
Courageous women like Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth led the fight against slavery. Pioneers like Amelia Earhart explored the boundaries of aviation, and Susan B. Anthony fought for the vote. The series profiles famous women like Oprah and lesser known women such as Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress, all who fought tirelessly for gender equality in politics, education and the workplace.
The eight-part series celebrates more than 40 different women and their positive contributions to American history from the 17th century to present day.
The program can be viewed on Cox Cable Channel 99. For more information about know99 Television, visit phoenix.gov/know99.
