Amenities for Everyone
Phoenix recognizes that to make an area alluring it has to have
affordable to luxury housing options, transportation networks,
lodging and entertainment for staff, out-of-town patients and
their families. Here are just a few key initiatives that will
create an appealing and comfortable environment.
Various efforts are underway to foster community,
connectivity and integrated civic spaces downtown. Streetscape
and landscape designs planned for downtown focus on enhancing
pedestrian activity and movement through increased usage of
shaded pedestrian pathways and urban trails.
- There are currently 1,900 hotel rooms with
an additional 1,500 rooms planned in the next five years. In
addition there are 4,500 housing units being built with an
additional 10,000 housing units planned in the next ten years.
- The Light Rail line that is expected to be
completed in 2008, will only be a few blocks from the PBC.
This mode of transportation will not only connect staff to
your facility but also directly to the research being conducted
on the Tempe Campus of ASU, including the Biodesign Institute
of Arizona State University.
- In addition, your employees and visitors will
be able to easily get around Copper Square , 90-square blocks
surrounding the PBC. Five days a week, employees and others
can park once and let the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) take
them anywhere free of charge to places including the ballpark,
Collier Center and several area restaurants. This will provide
your staff and visitors with alternative transportation options
to nearby amenities.
- Planned retail development of 400,000 SF that
will provide shopping conveniences to your visitors making
them more comfortable. Arizona Center , at the doorstep of
the PBC across 5 th Street , is now under new ownership and
will be key to the city’s downtown retail strategy.
- More than 20 arts, cultural and entertainment
entities, including the Orpheum and Dodge theaters and the
Science Museum will provide options to many activities that
fit a variety of lifestyles contributing to overall wellness.
