Phase 2 - UnderwayPhase 2 is a continuation of the studies to further investigate the feasibility of recharging reclaimed water in the Agua Fria corridor. The Phase 1 studies and information provided as a part of stakeholder communication and public meetings, provided the information needed to define the studies included in Phase 2 which is divided into the following nine tasks:
The Phase 1 information and input obtained during the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Scoping period were used to help the project to evolve from the Phase 1 concept to the current proposed alternatives. The Arizona Department of Water Resources groundwater model of the Agua Fria area was used as the foundation to project the future impacts the Agua Frial Linear Recharge Project will have on the groundwater reservoir. Initial modeling shows the linear recharge project will help off-set the declining water table. The key components of Phase 2 are the preparation of the EIS and Feasibility Study Report which Reclamation will submit to Congress to secure appropriations for Phases 3 and 4 of the project.
Phase 2 - Public ScopingDuring the Fall 2004, the project team in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation conducted two public scoping meetings. Issues identified by the public included:
