The Sunnyslope Family Services Center operates in partnership with public and private agencies to provide a comprehensive array of onsite services to meet the emergency needs of low-income Phoenix residents.

Client Services Programs

Case Management is provided to help adult individuals and families resolve social service problems and assist them to achieve self-sufficiency.

Examples of assistance provided include: budgeting, education and job training referrals, social and life-skills development, client advocacy, technical assistance, resource development, counseling and direct services to become self-sufficient/self-supporting.

Services may include information and referral, emergency financial assistance for eligible clients experiencing a crisis with utilities and rent. Emergency food boxes and bus tickets are available for qualifying individuals.

Head Start

A federally funded pre-school Program for three- and four-year-olds from income-eligible households. Services include education, health/nutrition, social services, case management, parent involvement and special needs services. For information, call 602-262-4040.

Young First Offenders Program

Young First Offenders counsels juvenile first offenders, ages 8 to 12 years old, who are referred by the juvenile court system for first-offense misdemeanors. The program operates as a partnership between the Parks Department Youth-At-Risk Division and the Human Services Department School-Based Program. For more information, call 602-534-2328.

Non-City Services Available At The Center

English As A Second Language

The Gary L. Tang Adult Education Center conducts five half-day classes a week, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday. For information, call 623-842-8164.

Salvation Army

An agency representative provides client services, advocacy and emergency assistance. Services are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, call 602-997-5034.

Arizona Women’s Education And Employment

AWEE provides employment and training for women seeking new careers. Services are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. For information, call 602-371-1216.

Central Arizona Shelter Services

CASS provides case management for families at Vista Colina. Services are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For information or to schedule an appointment, call 602-870-1705 or 602-870-9885.

Income Tax Preparation

Tax preparation assistance is available for low-income or elderly citizens from February to April 15 each year.

Family Service Agency

The Family Service Agency provides individual, family and group counseling services. For information or to schedule an appointment, call 602-264-9891.

The Parent Support Center

Parenting classes are offered from 1 to 3 p.m. on Mondays and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. The classes focus on family communication, effective discipline and stages of child development. For information or to pre-register, call 602-506-6339 or 602-506-6036.
