Travis L. Williams Family Services Center operates in partnership with public and private agencies to provide a comprehensive array of onsite services to meet the emergency needs of low-income Phoenix residents.

Client Services Programs

Case Management is provided to help adult individuals and families resolve social service problems and assist them to achieve self-sufficiency.

Examples of assistance provided include: budgeting, education and job training referrals, social and life-skills development, client advocacy, technical assistance, resource development, counseling and direct services to become self-sufficient/self-supporting.

Services may include information and referral, emergency financial assistance for eligible clients experiencing a crisis with utilities and rent. Emergency food boxes and bus tickets are available for qualifying individuals.

Head Start

Head Start is a federally funded pre-school program for three-and four-year-olds from income-eligible households. Services include education, health/nutrition, social services, case management, parent involvement and special needs services.

The free pre-school program for children from income-eligible households partners with child care and community agencies to provide full-day, full-year services. The Grantee-Operated program has a classroom at Travis L. Williams Family Services Center as well as other sites in the Phoenix metropolitan area. For information, call 602-262-4040.

Phoenix Workforce Connection Resources

Workforce programs are designed to assist individuals to obtain and retain employment. Services include career awareness, job search referral and placement assistance. A resource library where customers have access to fax machines and career and employment information on the Internet also is available. Neighborhood Services Department

The Neighborhood Services Department works to preserve and improve the physical, social and economic health of Phoenix neighborhoods, supports neighborhood self-reliance and enhances the quality of life of residents through community-based problem- solving, neighborhood-oriented services and public/private cooperation. Classes are provided by Rio Salado College and are available from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Call 602-534-4732 to register.

Salvation Army

An agency representative provides client services, advocacy and emergency assistance. Services are available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, call 602-276-9572.

Unlimited Potential

This organization offers community-based education to improve reading, writing and math skills to prepare clients for the GED, build self-confidence and enable career exploration and community involvement. Pre-school activities are available. For information, call 602-276-6373.
