Our Heritage

petroglyph of a deerThe proud convention magnet we call Phoenix Convention Center is truly a world of its own. The variety of people, the diversity of cultures and the mix of groups who travel into and out of the facility for conventions, trade shows, expositions and more is phenomenal.

Our staff continues to reach out to further develop its year-round schedule of multi-cultural offerings and initiatives with an eye on increasing and expanding the ethnic travel and meetings market. Working closely with the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau's Multi-Cultural Affairs Department, we are at the forefront of an effort that has, since 1996, booked more than 146 ethnic conventions and meetings representing nearly 153,000 room nights and a combined economic impact of over $140 million to the region.

A quick look at our calendar, stretching into the future as far as 2006, includes no less than 16 multi-cultural conferences, conventions and public events on the docket. The variety of the diversity is, well, varied. Here's a sample of what's coming up in the near future:

What this diversity of events and conferences and the keen attention to multi-cultural opportunities means is an infusion of economic impact, busy hotels, bustling restaurants and a more vibrant downtown Phoenix. In today's highly competitive convention and tourism industries, Phoenix Convention Center is creatively and aggressively marketing itself to multi-cultural opportunities and expansion. Each event is uniquely different from the next, making Phoenix Convention Center truly a multi-cultural world of its own.

The Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau's Multi-Cultural Affairs Department establishes group meeting itineraries focusing on the numerous Greater Phoenix cultural contributions made by African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans. A 24-page Greater Phoenix multi-cultural brochure and a detailed multi-cultural trails map are available. Please contact www.visitphoenix.com.
