Design and Construction Teams
The key to any successful construction project is management. Before any ground was broken on the $600 million Phoenix Convention Center expansion project, extensive planning came first. Conventional Wisdom Corporation was asked to come on board to help with the feasibility study and master planning for the project. Conventional Wisdom Corporation's role as a consultant continues, providing input on convention center design and operational issues.
Following extensive and highly competitive processes, the design teams and construction management teams were chosen. For Phase One design, Leo A. Daly/HOK Venue/van Dijk Westlake Reed Leskosky were selected for the project. The Construction Manager At-Risk team of Hunt/Russell/Alvarado (HRA) was retained early in the process to provide input to the design team on cost and construction issues. As the Architect, HOK Venue leads the Phase 2 Design Team. The Phoenix Convention Center Project Management Team includes Pfocus, LLC and Kitchell CEM, which extends the Team's leadership and management to deliver the Center's quality, budget and schedule objectives. As the Program Manager, Pfocus directs the management team, which includes Kitchell as the project management consultant. Pfocus specializes in project management of cultural centers while Kitchell served as construction manager for the previous expansion and renovation to this center.
