New Construction Projects in District 5

Capital Improvement Construction Projects

    There are no projects at this time.


Sewer Replacement Project

    The city of Phoenix Water Services Department has begun contruction to install new water main services and fire hydrants in the area bounded by 27th Avenue and 39th Avenue between Bethany Home Road and Maryland Avenue. The anticipated completion of construction is in August 2009. There will be some traffic lane restrictions during the improvement activity, however the contractor will maintain access for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles at all times. Residents will be notified prior to any driveway access restrictions. For more information, please contact the construction hotline, at (602) 956-2670.


Sidewalk Installation Program Project

    The city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department has begun the installation of the new 5-foot sidewalk in the area bounded by 99th Avenue to 107th Avenue and Camelback Road to Indian School Road on June 23, 2008. The anticipated completion of this phase of construction is in mid-October. Driveway access will be temporarily restricted during installation of new driveway entrances. However, residents will be notified prior to any driveway access restrictions. For more information, please contact the construction hotline, at (480) 281-1506.

    The city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department has begun construction to install sidewalks on 64th Drive between Osborn and Indian School Roads, and the Weldon Avenue, Fairmount Avenue and Amelia Avenue cul-de-sacs east of 64th Drive. Construction will begin the week of September 8 and the project is anticipated to be completed by March 2009. Completed Projects in District 5

    Bethany Home Grand Canal Flood Control Project: The project is approximately five miles in length and goes through agricultural, residential, and equestrian properties within the cities of Glendale and Phoenix, and Maricopa County is now completed in District 5. The Project Team has divided the project into segments based on neighborhood characteristics and major street crossings.     Maryland Avenue Pedestrian Overpass at Interstate 17 and Maryland Avenue.


    The Street Transportation Department Sidewalk Installation program has completed the installation at the following location:

    • Keim Drive, between 19th Avenue and 21st Avenue.

      along Mitchell Avenue between 63rd Avenue and 64th Drive and along 63rd Avenue betweem Osborn Road to the Grand Canal.

      in the neighborhood bounded by 50th Drive, 49th Avenue, Indian School Road, and Pierson.Street.

      on 47th Avenue, between Indian School Road to Campbell Avenue.

    The Street Transportation Department Street Modernization program has completed the installation at the following location:


      Orangewood Avenue and Northern Avenue between 31st Avenue to 35th Avenue

      Campbell Avenue and Camelback Road between 87th Avenue and 91st Avenue

      Camelback Road between 43rd Avenue and 35th Avenue was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      75th Avenue between Thomas Road and Indian School Road was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      Clarendon Avenue between 55th Avenue and Indian School Road was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      Glendale Avenue between 7th Avenue and 19th Avenue was overlayed with rubberized asphalt.
      Indian School Road between 59th Avenue and 67th Avenue was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      Maryvale Parkway between Indian School Road and Camelback Road was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      Maryvale Parkway between Clarendon Avenue and Indian School Road was resurfaced with rubberized asphalt.

      73rd Avenue between Flower Street and Weldon Avenue was recently widened and curb, gutter, and sidewalk was installed.


    The Street Transportation Department Storm Drain and Roadway Improvement Project:

    The city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department has completed the installation of the new ADA pedestrian ramps and radius curb returns on the southeast and northeast corners of 107th Avenue and Camelback Road; repaving the north side of Camelback Road approximately 500-feet north of Camelback Road and the east side of 107th Avenue approximately 500-feet north of Camelback Road.

    The Water Department Sewer Replacement project has completed the installation at the following locations:

      along 71st Drive between Campbell Avenue and Indian School Road.

      along 19th Avenue between Hatcher Road and Ironwood Drive and along Carol Avenue just east of 19th Avenue.

      along Butler Drive between 15th Drive and 16th Avenue.
