Employment Growth

The Phoenix employment base has grown rapidly in the past 20 years and currently boasts more than 1.7 million workers. A steady influx of new workers and high graduation levels from the state's largest university, Arizona State University, enrich the quality of labor.

Each component of the economic base has different characteristics and reacts differently to each stage of the economic cycle. While the economic growth of the area has been somewhat cyclical, greater Phoenix has had explosive employment growth in the past six years.
