Early Voting Information

The following also is provided in Spanish. Lo siguiente también es provisto en español.

All Phoenix voters have the opportunity to vote early in city of Phoenix elections either by mail or at early voting locations.

Permanent Early Voting List
Arizona has a new law that allows a voter to place their name on a "Permanent Early Voting List," which is maintained by the County Recorders. What this means is that once you are on this list, you no longer have to request an early ballot to be mailed to you for each election. Instead, by being on this list, an early ballot will automatically be mailed to you. For more information about this List, click here to go to the Maricopa County Recorder’s Web site.

If you are on the permanent early voting list and do not want an early ballot for this election, sign and return the postcard that was mailed to you in early February indicating that you do not wish to receive a ballot. This postcard must be received by the City Clerk no later than Saturday, April 5. You will not be mailed a ballot for this election, but your name will remain on the List for future elections.

Requests for Early Ballot By Mail
If you are registered to vote in the city of Phoenix, are not on the permanent early voting list and wish to receive an early ballot by mail, request forms are available at phoenix.gov and at city public service counters and libraries. Request forms can also be obtained by calling the City Clerk Department, Elections Division. The City Clerk must receive a signed, written request for an early ballot by mail no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9.

Temporary Address for Mailing Early Ballots
If you will be away from your regular mailing address for the three to four weeks prior to the election, please contact the City Clerk Department to provide the information where the ballot should be mailed.

Mailing of the Early Ballots
The early ballots will be mailed beginning about 30 days before the election. The early ballot packet will include instructions for voting the ballot. The ballots may be returned by mail, be delivered to the City Clerk Department or dropped off at any city polling place on Election Day. Voted early ballots must be received by the City Clerk Department by 7 p.m. on Election Day, May 20, 2008.

Early Voting Locations
Voters who wish to vote early but do not request an early ballot by mail may vote early at an early voting location beginning Monday, April 21. Click here for a list of these locations and the voting hours at each. The last day to vote an early ballot at these designated early voting locations is Friday, May 16.
