How
Can I Request an Early Ballot?
Voters can call 602-261-VOTE (8683) and request an early ballot
request postcard, or mail a signed letter listing their name,
address and phone number to the City Clerk Department, Elections
Division, 200 W. Washington St., 15th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
When can I request an Early Ballot?
Early Ballots may be requested no earlier than 120 days prior
to the election and requests must be received no later than
the Friday, 11 days prior to the election.
What
is the Permanent Early Voting List?
Arizona law
allows a voter to place their name on a "Permanent Early
Voting List," which is maintained by the County Recorders.
What this means is that once you are on this list, you no longer
have to request an early ballot to be mailed to you for each
election. Instead, by being on this list, an early ballot will
automatically be mailed to you. You will receive a notice about
120 days prior to an election with a postage-paid postcard that
you can use to tell us you do not want an early ballot for that
election. The postcard will also allow you to update your voter
registration information. For more information about this List,
click
here to go to the Maricopa County Recorder’s Web site.
When will I receive my Early Ballot?
After the request is received and verified, an official early
ballot will be mailed approximately 26 days prior to the election.
If you will be away from your registered address and wish to
have your ballot mailed to another address you will need to
contact the City Clerk Department.
How can I return my Early Ballot?
Ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. Election Day and can be dropped
off at Phoenix City Hall main lobby, or at the City Clerk Department
located on the 15th floor of Phoenix City Hall. Early ballots
may be mailed to the City Clerk Department, 200 W. Washington
St., Ste. 1500, Phoenix, AZ 85003. If mailed, your ballot must
be received by the City Clerk Department before 7:00 p.m. election
day. Early ballots may also be dropped off at an early voting
site or voting center during voting hours.
Where
Can I Vote Early in Person?
For all City of Phoenix elections, in-person early voting is
conducted at Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St. on the
15th Floor, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday,
beginning 26 days prior to the election and until the Friday

Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Get More Information About
the Election?
A Sample Ballot/Publicity Pamphlet is mailed to each household
in Phoenix with registered voters, about 30 days prior to the
election. The Pamphlet is also available at phoenix.gov. To request
an alternative format Sample Ballot/Publicity Pamphlet or for
more information, contact the City Clerk Department at 602-261-VOTE
(8683), or call the TTY number at 602-534-2737.
What Measures Does the City Take
to Protect Your Ballot in the Vote by Mail Process?
There
are a number of ways your ballot is protected. The most important
are the signature verification process and the limitations on
who may handle early ballots. The City Code requires a signed
request for an early ballot. The signatures on the request and
the early ballot affidavit envelope containing the voted ballot
are compared with the voters’ original affidavit of registration
from Maricopa County records.
Can Someone Else Pick Up My Early
Ballot from the City Clerk Department?
No.
An early ballot can only be mailed or provided directly to the
voter. This is to ensure that no other person has the opportunity
to steal, alter or invalidate an early ballot.
Can I Vote at a Voting Center if
I Request and Receive an Early Ballot, but later decide I Want
to Vote at the Polls?
Yes, as long as you have not returned your early ballot to the
City. If you decide to vote at the polls after receiving an early
ballot, officials will verify that your early ballot was not received
by the City Clerk before you are provided with a voting center
ballot. |
