On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, the City of Phoenix will hold the regularly scheduled Council Election for voters in Council Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 to elect a council member. There is no election in Council Districts 1, 3, 5, or 7 because the terms of the council members are staggered and there is no election for mayor or propositions this year.
During the week of July 27, 2009, the City Clerk Department will mail a Sample Ballot Pamphlet to each residence in Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 at which a registered voter resides. The pamphlet contains a sample ballot identifying the candidates for the City Council in Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8. The pamphlet also identifies the polling places and includes information about voting, a list of early and accessible voting locations and a list of acceptable identification that can be used when voting at the polls.
This pamphlet is available in alternative formats, including Braille, large print, audio tape and compact disk (CD), upon request. To request an alternative format copy of this pamphlet, please call the City Clerk Department at 602-261-VOTE (8683), TTY 602-534-2737. Requests for alternative formats must be received by Aug. 7, 2009.
