The Phoenix Environmental Quality Commission advises the City Council on issues concerning the preservation and improvement of the city's environmental quality. The 15-member, citizen-based commission, established in 1987, is appointed by the Mayor and City Council.Last Modified on 11/17/2003 14:04:19The commission has three standing subcommittees: Water Quality, Land Use/Solid Waste and Air Quality. Key issues which the commission has addressed include water fluoridation, hillside development, city procurement of environmentally sensitive products, chlorofluorocarbons, pollen control and indoor air quality.
