3.

4.

Applicant's Statement - The applicant submitted the following statement in support of this application. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation in the statement are shown exactly as written by the applicant on the City Questionnaire:

A.

I have the capability, qualifications, and reliability to hold a liquor license because: "Walgreen Co. has operated retail pharmacies since 1901. Walgreen Co. has taken great measures to assure that any beverage containing alcohol will be sold in a responsible and appropriate manner. Detailed polices and procedures are already in place, endorsed by legal counsel as well as senior management and are strictly enforced without exception. Employees for each eligible store must undergo extensive training prior to beer and wine availability. Once trained, each register clerk must submit a policy acknowledgement as part of the daily log-on process. Register clerks must request identification for all customers that appear to be under the age of 40. Under age employees are required to seek the assistance of a manger."

B.

The public convenience requires and the best interest of the community will be substantially served by the issuance of the liquor license because: "Our decision to add beer and wine is a direct response to consumer demand. As these products become more mainstream, our customer is looking for a safe, convenient alternative for purchasing the occasional bottle of wine or six-pack of beer. Our modest selection is intended to meet that need. In addition, sales of beer and wine at our stores will produce sales tax revenue that will bolster local municipal budgets."
