800MHz Portable Radio Transition. It has been some time since we successfully transitioned to the 800 MHz portable radio for non-hazard zone incidents. As usual, with anything new there was a learning curve. Through on-site training and daily use by our members, we have transitioned rather seamlessly. Now, through new technology, we will be making an upgrade to our portable and mobile radio systems.

Dual band portable radio in the near future! We are again in the process of improving our radio system communications. In 2011, we will be introducing our new dual band radios. This will replace the need for the two portable radio systems. The new dual band radios will have VHF/800MHz capabilities. The VHF and 800MHz radio systems will work exactly the same, but we will only need one radio to accomplish this. We are very excited about being in the process of simplifying our portable radio system.

This webpage is designed to give you up-to-date information on a variety of topics to help you understand the 800MHz radio and the transition process to our future dual band radio.
