Executive Assistant Chief Mike Duran

Chief Duran was promoted to Executive Assistant Chief in January of 2008. He was hired in May 1973 and has promoted through the Department ranks into his present position

Chief Duran manages the department's Administration, Human Resources, Physical Resource and Fire Prevention Divisions. He also serves as the Fire Chief's Executive Officer, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department.

Chief Duran has recently been selected to be a member of the Arizona Department of Health Services AD Hoc Committee dealing with Hospital Diversion for the Central Region of Arizona.  He co-chairs the Arizona State Diversion Subcommittee and works closely with the Valley Automatic Aid Fire Departments and EMS Providers.

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, he has observed and experienced the ongoing Phoenix Fire challenges associated with the growth in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

He has volunteered for various community projects and currently is on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization, Maricopa County Volunteer Center.  He also is a member of the Valley Hispanic Bomberos Organization
