MEAL DELIVERY SUPERVISOR

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to ensure meals are delivered to individuals who are homebound due to health, physical, and/or cognitive impairments. The incumbent works out of a senior center and supervises part-time meal delivery aides who are the link between the home delivered meal clients and the senior centers. This position reports directly to the Senior Programs Supervisor, who reviews performance through observation of work methods, reports, and evaluation of results achieved.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts home visits with clients to explain and establish service delivery parameters;
- Trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines program personnel;
- Assigns clients to appropriate staff;
- Establishes and monitors delivery routes;
- Interviews and hires meal delivery aide personnel;
- Maintains program documentation;
- Supervises the packing of food conducted by meal delivery aides;
- Discusses special client issues with case managers;
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:Ability to:
- State and County Health Department Food codes.
- Relate to and work with elderly and disabled individuals.
- Communicate in the English language by phone or in person in a one-to-one setting.
- Produce written documents with clearly organized thought in the English language using proper sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
- Understand and enforce State and County Health Department Food codes.
- Interpret City and applicable program policies and procedures for meal delivery aides.
- Prepare accurate and timely programmatic reports.
- Work cooperatively with City employees, clients, agencies, and the public.
- Comprehend and make inferences from material written in the English language.
- Review the work of others to ensure conformance to standards.
- Observe, compare, or monitor data to determine compliance with program requirements.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Additional Requirements:
- Possession of a Maricopa County, Environmental Health Services, Food Service Worker card at time of hire.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School diploma or GED. Any combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
