WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AIDE

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to process incoming source documents received from subcontractors and reviewing the same for accuracy and consistency for input into the reporting and eligibility verification system. Employees apply knowledge of federal Department of Labor rules and regulations in determining participant eligibility for a variety of titles. Transactions that document participant flow through the system are evaluated to determine if they meet stated program criteria. Employees communicate directly with subcontractors to resolve inconsistencies and offer technical assistance on participant record keeping per Department of Labor and Employment and Training Administration guidelines. Incumbents in this classification work independently and exercise judgment in applying guidelines to assigned areas of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews incoming source documents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency;
- Keeps a manual control system to assure validity of data;
- Processes and codes documents and inputs into computer data base;
- Researches and records prior participation and advises subcontractors of individual's program limitations;
- Communicates with subcontractors to correct data inconsistencies and offer technical assistance on record keeping requirements and procedures;
- Evaluates subcontractors' contract compliance in the areas of intake procedures, eligibility, data accuracy and consistency, and record keeping procedures;
- Reviews computer output and performs necessary corrections to data base;
- Trains subcontractors in record keeping methods and eligibility criteria;
- Sorts, separates, arranges, files, or distributes incoming mail products, or material;
- Works with confidential material;
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

- Comprehend and apply Department of Labor and State of Arizona regulations related to participant eligibility and record keeping.
- Make decisions consistent with pertinent laws, regulations, and division policies.
- Plan and organize work independently.
- Review large quantities of incoming data where attention to detail is critical.
- Comprehend and make inferences from material written in the English language.
- Work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Communicate orally in the English language with customers, clients, and the public using a telephone.
- Work cooperatively with other employees, clients, and the public.
- Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
- Enter data or information into a terminal, PC or other keyboard device.
- Review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Three years of responsible experience in bookkeeping, accounting, data processing, statistics or a related field, including experience working with federal eligibility programs. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
