DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Human Services Program Coordinator on assignment to Head Start is responsible for administration of the Head Start Program. Duties include planning, formulating, coordinating, and implementing the Head Start Program and providing direction for all program areas including program design and management, early childhood education and health, and family and community partnerships. This position advocates of behalf of Head Start by serving on boards and committees and participating in community activities; coordinates the development of proposals for all grant applications and supervises special initiatives after funds are awarded; designs, coordinates, and updates the community needs assessment and develops goals and objectives based on the assessments; establishes and maintains collaborations with public and private agencies; and develops plans for the utilization of community resources. This class is distinguished from the base class by the greater size, scope, and complexity of the program for which the assignment is responsible.
