NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES PROGRAM COORDINATOR

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to administer the City's Graffiti Busters and Tool Lending Programs. These programs focus on neighborhood revitalization efforts through graffiti removal and lending tools to neighborhood groups to perform their own cleanup efforts. Responsibilities include the continual assessment of neighborhood cleanup efforts, working with City Council, community groups, neighborhood associations, and public and private organizations to market and generate program interest. Supervision is exercised over Trades Helpers and a Supplies Clerk II. The Neighborhood Services Program Coordinator receives guidance from a Management Assistant II; however, the incumbent must exercise independent judgment in accomplishing work. Performance is evaluated on the basis of results obtained.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises staff involved in removing graffiti and lending tools to groups for neighborhood cleanup efforts;
- Develops, administers, and evaluates the effectiveness of Graffiti Busters and Tool Lending Programs;
- Conducts presentations to community groups to promote neighborhood revitalization;
- Responds to City Council requests for graffiti removal and information pertaining to program performance;
- Drafts and presents reports about neighborhood cleanup efforts;
- Solicits donations for supplies from private businesses;
- Purchases paint, paint supplies, equipment, and vehicles to support the programs;
- Ensures that environmental/safety regulations pertaining to paint application and cleanup are met;
- Prepares and monitors program budget;
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

- Comprehend and make inferences from written materials.
- Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation to effectively perform job duties. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job setting.
- Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts, proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Additional Requirements:
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Four years of experience in construction cost estimating, including some marketing experience, and two years of supervisory experience. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
