ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
ASSIGN: TRAFFIC COUNT

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

This assignment is distinguished from the basic class by the involvement in the City's Traffic Count function and the independence with which duties are performed. The Traffic Count Technicians, under general supervision, are responsible for evaluating tube sensor configurations, starting date and time, and count interval increments, in order to accurately program the computerized counting equipment. The Technicians on Traffic Count assignment are also responsible for testing the automated counters and retrievers, and the charging and safety devices on assigned specialized vehicles to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
