ASSISTANT TICKET SERVICES SUPERVISOR

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to assist in the supervision of all phases of daily ticket services operations at the Phoenix Convention Center. Responsibilities include selling tickets, preparing bank and daily ticket sales reports, and maintaining other required ticket services accounting records. An employee in this class assists in the training of full-time and/or part-time Ticket Sellers, and assumes the responsibilities of the Ticket Services Supervisor during absences. Assignments are carried out within established guidelines but judgment and initiative are required for unusual situations. General supervision of this class is provided by the Ticket Services Supervisor and work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in supervisory duties and participates in ticket sales during regular business hours and events;
- Assists in the training of full and/or part-time ticket sales personnel;
- Contacts and schedules part-time Ticket Sellers;
- Counts and verifies change funds;
- Prepares bank deposit and sales reports;
- Counts and verifies copy on tickets printed by clients or the Phoenix Convention Center;
- Accepts ticket reservation by telephone and the mail;
- Informs ticket sellers of price changes, schedules of coming events or other pertinent information;
- Works with promoters in resolving problems related to Phoenix Convention Center, Symphony Hall, or Orpheum Theatre events;
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

- Principles and practices of bookkeeping and payment handling as it relates to large scale ticket sales operations.

- Prepare financial records regarding cash receipts and ticket sales.
- Make arithmetical computations quickly and accurately.
- Communicate in the English language by phone or in person in a one-to-one or group setting.
- Instruct others in an on-the-job setting.
- Perceive the full range of the color spectrum, such as working with color coded paper.
- Draw and use graphic instructions, such as maps, schedules or seating plans.
- Install, replace or adjust ribbons, computer paper, or similar objects.
- Prepare bundles of tickets or other material for mailing or delivery.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements.
- Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation which takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material.
- Produce written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Enter data or information into a computer terminal or other keyboard device.
- Remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods of time.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees and the general public.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Additional Requirements:
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
- Employees in this class work irregular hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Three years of varied clerical accounting experience including large volume money handling assignments with one year of experience selling tickets. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
