DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to ensure the proper care and maintenance of a municipal golf course, including the computerized irrigation system and the pumps for high pressure sprinkling. Supervision is exercised over Golf Rangers, Greenskeepers, and other employees who perform golf course maintenance duties. Work is performed with considerable independence, and policy questions are discussed with the Golf/Tennis Administrative Supervisor who reviews the work through inspection and discussion. The reaction and comments from the public using the golf course facilities serve as an evaluation of how well the golf course is maintained.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Three years of supervisory experience in the maintenance of a golf course, supplemented by courses in turf management, agronomy, agriculture, or a related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
