DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to lead and direct a four-person crew engaged in the skilled installation and repair of the City's water distribution system. Incumbents are responsible for operating heavy construction equipment such as a backhoe, a rock cutter, a trencher, and a boom truck. Responsibility for the most complex installation and repair jobs involving bridge crossings, crossing under washes or canals, working with larger pipe, the repair of large transmission mains, water main extensions of several hundred feet of pipe, and installing fiberglass vaults distinguishes this assignment from the base class.
