ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR II
ASSIGN: INDUSTRIAL PLANT PROGRAM/PLANS REVIEWJOB CODE 60231
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Electrical Inspector II assigned to Industrial Plant Program/Plans Review is responsible for performing plans review functions in addition to inspection activities. Incumbents of the assignment are either assigned to work the Industrial Plant Program or perform plans review in the Plans Review and Codes Division of the Development Services Department. Each incumbent is responsible for reviewing and approving electrical plans for compliance to the Uniform Electrical Code and City of Phoenix Code.
Assignment to the Industrial Plant Program requires the incumbent to meet with representatives of large industrial plants and facilities to discuss, inspect, and report unsafe conditions or noncompliance to code.
Assignment to the Plans Review and Codes Division requires the incumbent to review and evaluate electrical plans for compliance to requirements of the Electrical Code prior to approving issuance of a building permit. Appointments made to this assignment are based on the department's critical demand for assistance in plans review.
This assignment differs from the class of Electrical Inspector II due to the broader range of duties including plans review, in addition to inspection activities.
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess two certifications (one from each of the following options):
Option 1
Option 2
- IAEI Electrical General
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector
- IAEI Electrical One-and Two-Family Dwelling
- ICC Residential Electrical Inspector
AND one of the following certifications:
- IAEI Electrical Plan Review
- ICC Electrical Plans Examiner
