PLAN REVIEW COORDINATOR

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to apply professional engineering knowledge and skills to a variety of difficult civil engineering projects involving interdisciplinary project review and contracted plan review coordination. Work is performed in the Development Services Department, and assigned projects typically involve substantial interaction with the Council, Manager, and economic development staff, as well as attorneys, engineers, and developers. Duties require the use of independent judgment and initiative in making technical decisions of considerable difficulty within compressed time schedules. In addition, the functional supervisory aspects of the classification are of equal importance since this class is responsible for coordinating the department's consultant plan review program. Work is reviewed by a Deputy Development Services Director through discussion and inspection, principally for determining general progress and adherence to departmental policies and regulations.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Four years of experience in the practice of civil engineering, including lead or supervisory experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering degree. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
