DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Police Officer assigned as a Pilot is responsible for both police functions and aviation functions in the Air Support Unit of the Police Department. Incumbents of this assignment must obtain a personal pilot's license and a commercial rotorwing certificate, as well as complete extensive unit training.

Work is performed under general supervision received from a Police Sergeant or other higher ranking supervisor, and performance is reviewed through observation of results and oral and written reports.
