POLICE OFFICER
ASSIGN: RESCUE PILOT

JOB CODE 62212

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Police Officer assigned as a Rescue Pilot teams with the Phoenix Fire Department for the search and rescue mission. The assignment requires current commercial certification in both rotorcraft and fixed wing aircraft with a certified flight instructor's rating in the rotorcraft. Required manuevers typically include hazardous rescue, one skid rescue, rappel, or long-line extraction.

Work is performed under general supervision received from a Police Sergeant or other higher ranking supervisor, and performance is reviewed through observation of results and oral and written reports.
