DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

A Polygraph Examiner on assignment as Lead Polygraph Examiner provides lead direction and technical oversight to civilian polygraph examiners in the Polygraph Section of the Police Employment Services Bureau who perform internal, pre-employment, and criminal investigation polygraph examinations. The Lead Polygraph Examiner is responsible for performing departmentally sensitive examinations and ensuring quality control on interview techniques; test administration methods, procedures, and content; chart interpretation; reports; and mandatory record keeping requirements. In addition, the Lead Polygraph Examiner schedules and prioritizes the section's daily workload, trains new examiners, critiques and reviews exam reports, and prepares section administrative reports and employee performance appraisals.

The Lead Polygraph Examiner reports directly to a bureau administrative sergeant and work is reviewed based on the accuracy of results achieved.
