DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Street Maintenance Worker II, assigned Rapid Responder, is responsible for providing immediate response to hazardous conditions in the City's streets. The employee patches holes, spreads sand on spilled oil, cleans debris, and repairs cave-ins. Incumbents of this assignment work independently in performing a variety of manual tasks, and when unable to make repairs, incumbents set up barricades and contact a supervisor for further instructions. This assignment differs from the base classification in the degree of independence allowed and the pressing conditions under which work is performed.
