The Equipment Operator III on this assignment operates the large paint-striping equipment in the Aviation Department. The incumbent works independently and leads the work of 1 to 5 helpers on assigned jobs. Work requires multiple adjustments to the equipment before and during operation. The incumbent performs all routine preventive maintenance and makes necessary repairs to the paint-spraying equipment. This assignment differs from the Equipment Operator III by the additional technical knowledge and specialized expertise needed to independently schedule, lay out, set up and complete assigned jobs in strict compliance with Federal Aviation Administration standards.
