Attorneys provide a wide-range of legal services in employment related areas. The attorneys provide general advice to all departments regarding issues such as the investigation and imposition of employee discipline, compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, labor relations, and employment discrimination. The Section provides legal representation to various city employment related functions such as volunteer programs, the Minority/Women/Small Business Enterprises program and the Deferred Compensation Board. The Employment Section also monitors and coordinates lawsuits being handled by outside counsel, provides advice to the Personnel and Equal Opportunity Departments, and handles fair housing litigation.
