More than 40 companies and individuals were honored at the city of Phoenix Family Advocacy Center Donor Recognition reception for their monetary or in-kind contributions to the center.

The ceremony included the unveiling of the "Tree of Hope," adorned with gold, silver and bronze leaves in the center lobby, listing 42 people who are recognized as part of the Survivors Support Network. Donor recognition plaques also are displayed in the lobby highlighting 10 Premier Donors who gave $1,000 or more to the center.

Corporate donors include American Express, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, The Cowen Agency and U.S. Business Interiors. In-kind donations include stuffed animals, toys, books and clothing for children as well as blankets and assault survivor kits, which provide a change of clothing and toiletries, for sexual assault victims.

Cash donations of approximately $45,000 have helped equip, furnish and decorate the quiet rooms, interview and conference rooms, training areas and community advocacy offices. In addition, U.S. Business Interiors sponsored the center’s fund-raising event in October 1999, which raised $25,000 to establish individual and family counseling and support group services.

The Family Advocacy Center, located at 2120 N. Central Ave., opened its doors in August 1999 and provides comprehensive services to victims and their families who are affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse, in a safe, comforting and supportive environment.
