Residents who live in Sunnyslope discovered today that the community has officially been designated as a Weed and Seed site. Through this federal program, Sunnyslope now will be eligible to receive approximately
$1 million over 5 years. Sunnyslope was selected from more than 100 potential sites, including three in Arizona.
Sunnyslope Operation Weed and Seed is a partnership of the community and the U.S. Department of Justice. It is a community-based initiative, and an innovative and comprehensive multi-agency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention and community revitalization. The program is implemented in targeted neighborhoods across the country.
