City Officials Break Ground On Canal Enhancement Project

Phoenix City Councilman Greg Stanton and other city of Phoenix officials invite community members to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the Indian School Road/Arizona Canal Wall and Landscape Project at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Herberger Park, east of 56th Street on Indian School Road.
The project will enhance and beautify the south bank of the Arizona Canal by constructing a landscape and retaining wall from 49th to 60th streets. Community members have joined the city of Phoenix Street Transportation and Parks and Recreation departments, Arts Commission, Salt River Project and the landscape architect and artist team to develop the design concepts.
Construction is anticipated to begin February 2002 with a projected completion date of July 2002.
