NEWS RELEASE - Sister Cities Hosts Trade Mission To Canada City of Phoenix, Arizona, Official Municipal Web site - City News

Sister Cities Hosts Trade Mission To Canada

May 22, 2002

The Phoenix Sister Cities Commission is hosting a trade mission to the city of Calgary, Canada, Aug. 13 - 18. The purpose of the trip is to help Phoenix business owners -- particularly in the finance, high-tech, agribusiness and tourism industries -- explore international trade opportunities in Canada. Officials from the cities of Phoenix and Calgary will accompany the delegation to make introductions and coordinate visits to business facilities and points of interest in and around Calgary.

Sister Cities representatives will arrange one-on-one meetings based upon the pre-identified needs and interests of members of the delegation. Prior to departure, the city of Phoenix also will host a forum on doing business in Canada for trade mission participants.

As an added bonus, the group will travel to nearby Banff National Park with one night's stay at the world-renowned Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel Castle. This portion of the trip includes castle tours, gondola rides to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, and a choice of either a round of golf or a spa treatment at the Solace Spa.

Calgary is one of nine cities worldwide to establish a sister city relationship with Phoenix. This partnership has resulted in numerous municipal, cultural, educational, artistic and economic development exchanges.

Cost is $1,375 per person based on double occupancy for those who have or obtain a Phoenix Sister Cities Commission "Friend" level membership, or $1,475 for non-members. The price includes round trip airfare from Phoenix, five nights of deluxe hotel accommodations, ground transportation, all meals, gratuities, pre-arranged meetings with local business contacts, receptions with local dignitaries and guided sightseeing tours. A $250 per person deposit is required to hold reservations and space is limited. The deadline for deposits and registration is Friday, May 31.
