Frank Fairbanks Awarded for Leadership in Technology
Oct. 3, 2002
Phoenix City Manager Frank Fairbanks has been awarded CIO magazine's 2002 CIO 20/20 Vision Award. The 20/20 award honors leaders whose vision and execution of technology have made important changes for business and society.
Out of 300 nominees, only 40 people were honored with the award; 20 inventors, scientists and developers; and 20 businesspeople such as chief information officers, chief technology officers and chief executive officers who apply technology to a real business or organizational challenge.
Fairbanks joins business leaders such as Bill Gates, Microsoft Corp.; Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Inc.; Michael Dell, Dell Computer Corp.; David Kepler, Dow Chemical Co.; Stephanie Reel, Johns Hopkins Medical Center and University; and Gary Reiner, General Electric Co. in earning the award.
"The CIO 20/20 Vision Awards mark the first award program we've done to honor individuals instead of organizations," says Abbie Lundberg, CIO magazine's editor-in-chief. "We want to recognize the executives responsible for major organization achievements. The honorees are leaders and pioneers who have the vision and drive to make a difference."
CIO magazine assembled a team of business and technology experts to select
the 20/20 award winners. For more information visit www.cio.com
