Phoenix Receives Prestigious Technology Award

Aug. 15, 2003

For the fourth consecutive year, the city of Phoenix has received the CIO-100 award, which recognizes businesses and organizations around the world that excel in providing goods and services through the use of technology. The city of Phoenix is one of only 100 organizations worldwide to receive the award.

"Our employees consistently strive for excellence in customer service. To receive the CIO-100 award four years in a row is a tribute to the innovation and hard work of the staff in the Information Technology Department," City Manager Frank Fairbanks said.

Each year the award focuses on a new area. This year the city demonstrated excellence in the resourceful use of IT systems, staff and budgets in a tough economic climate.

"We're proud to be recognized for our efforts in using technology to improve service to the residents of Phoenix," said Danny Murphy, chief information officer and director of the city's Information Technology Department. "We're always looking for innovative ways to create value and serve our customers."

The 2003 CIO-100 Award is presented by CIO magazine. A panel of experts and CIO editors and writers voted on the final 100 companies that demonstrated positive business performance through the use of technology.
