National Study Says Phoenix Streets Among Best in the Country

June 16, 2003

Phoenix streets are among the best in the U.S. That's according to a recent report by The Road Information Program, a national non-profit organization that surveyed the best road conditions of the country's 52 most populous metropolitan areas.

Atlanta and Orlando, Fla., were two other cities that received the top ratings by TRIP, which is based in Washington D.C. and researches, evaluates and distributes economic and technical data on transportation issues.

This year's report looked at the ride smoothness of the major roads in metropolitan areas with at least 1 million residents.

The report noted the level of strong commitment by residents, mayor and City Council to the continued funding for new streets and the maintenance of existing streets each year.
