(Phoenix, AZ) – The August 2004 “Best of the Valley” issue of Phoenix Magazine named Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport the Best Public Museum. Exhibits featuring river rafting, the 100th Anniversary of Flight and miniature engines are just a few of the art displays at Sky Harbor this year. With over 200,000 visitors on an average day, the Phoenix Airports Museum Program is able to reach an audience that might never visit a museum.
The Phoenix Airports Museum Program is one of the largest airport museum programs in the United States. The program serves Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix Deer Valley Airport and Phoenix Goodyear Airport. The program includes an art collection of more than 350 works, temporary exhibitions in five buildings at three airports, and the Phoenix Aviation Archive. The City of Phoenix Aviation Department sponsors the program whose mission is to showcase Arizona’s unique artistic and cultural heritage.
