Councilman Mattox Asks for Investigation into Police Shooting

Councilman Claude Mattox today asked city management and Phoenix Police to investigate the shooting in front of Albertson's at 19th and Northern avenues last night. He is concerned not only about the danger the incident created for nearby customers, but also that Scottsdale and Mesa Police did not notify Phoenix Police of the situation.

"By all accounts, this was like a Wild West shootout that put dozens of people at risk," said Mattox, who represents the area. "Thankfully, no bystanders were injured, but apparently many rounds were fired by police officers who were not in uniform, and people, including the Phoenix Police, didn't know if they were the good guys or the bad guys."

Mattox expects a report from Police by the end of the week.
