Phoenix City Councilman Tom Simplot is asking residents to provide any tips in a murder case that has alarmed the Valley’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community. Maurice Green, 22, was killed on March 21 near the intersection of 35th and Glenrosa avenues. Police have yet to receive much information or many leads in the case. Green attended a local GLBT youth group, and occasionally went by the name Mo or Melissa.
“The Phoenix Police Department is committed to solving the homicide of Maurice Green,” said Simplot. “Unfortunately, a lack of information has made their work difficult so far.”
To support the police investigation, Councilman Simplot has added $1,000 to the reward offered for clues leading to the arrest or indictment of the suspect/s responsible for the crime. The reward now totals $2,000.
People can provide tips to the police department by calling Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. All calls can be anonymous.
“I hope that other people will consider donating to Silent Witness, to help solve crimes and support victims,” said Simplot.
