Simplot's Doggie Costume Party and Moonlight Movie at Steele Indian School Park

Councilman Tom Simplot is bringing a new Halloween tradition to Steele Indian School Park, Third Street and Indian School Road. The first "Tricks and Treats Doggie Costume Party," from 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, will give dogs and their owners a chance to show off their best costumes.

The Doggie Party is at the new dog park and will feature costume and ice cream eating contests, a mini obstacle course and a picture taking station – all for the dogs.

Right after the Doggie Party, also at Steele Indian School Park, is the final Moonlight Movie of the year. The Moonlight Movies 2006 series is hosted by Councilman Simplot, who raises money through private donations to fund the movies, which are free for the public.

Mel Brooks' classic "Young Frankenstein" starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The comedy turns the traditional Frankenstein story into a zany, cult classic, spoofing the traditional horror film. "Young Frankenstein" was nominated for two Academy Awards and stars the unforgettable Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn.

Residents are welcome to come in costume for both events.

For more information on the Doggie Costume Party or Moonlight Movies 2006, call Councilman Simplot's office at 602-262-7447.
