The city of Phoenix is seeking proposals for the development of laboratory research facilities on property not owned by the city in the Downtown Redevelopment Area. Specifically the target area covers the light rail and East Phoenix corridor, generally bounded by McDowell Road, Seventh Street, 52nd/56th Street alignment and Washington/Jefferson streets.
Proposals are being sought from qualified development teams preferably with owner/tenant representation that will finance, construct and potentially operate laboratory research facilities for institutional, academic and private users. Proposals that include facilities dedicated to bioscience-related uses and incorporate mixed-use development are highly encouraged.
The Request For Proposal is in response to the growing biotechnology industry developing in and around the Phoenix Biomedical Campus and the Phoenix metropolitan area. In 2006, Phoenix voters approved $2 million in bond funds to assist in the development of additional biotechnology research facilities.
The deadline to submit proposals is noon Dec. 15. Information packets may be obtained beginning Oct. 16 at phoenix.gov/downtown or by contacting the city’s Downtown Development Office at 602-534-7143.
