Four Local Businesses to Open in the Melrose District

Four new businesses in the Melrose District will host their grand openings Friday, Feb. 2. To help kick-off the festivities, Councilman Tom Simplot will attend the opening for Flo’s on 7th, Alternatives Health and Wellness Center, PumpedCut Fitness and Bend-A-Light Neon Studio.

At 7:30 a.m., Flo’s on 7th, the new Florence Crittenton Thrift Shop at 4116 N. 7th Ave., will host its ribbon-cutting. All of the proceeds from the new store will benefit programs for at-risk teen girls. The rest of the grand opening celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At 8:30 a.m., Simplot will visit the shared location for Alternatives Health and Wellness Center and PumpedCut Fitness at 4314 N. 7th Ave. Alternatives Health and Wellness Center owner, James Claymon, describes his new business as a studio that incorporates the mind, body and spirit into one. Mark Layne, owner and personal trainer of PumpedCut Fitness, relocated his business from 16th Street and Glendale Avenue. He moved into the Melrose business district due to the growth and future development of the area.

At 9 a.m., Bend-a-Light Neon Studio’s ribbon cutting ceremony will be the last stop for Simplot at 4232 N. 7th Ave., Suite C. Studio owner Sue Meyers has been in the neon business for 16 years and is excited about her move and would love to get Seventh Avenue lit up with lights.
