The city of Phoenix Water Services Department recently won numerous awards for its highly acclaimed PHX 11 WATERways series and public information productions.
WATERways 8 and WATERways 9 won the coveted Telly Award. WATERways 9 also garnered a National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) Award in the public education category. The videos covered topics such as water supply, conservation, meter reading and private water lines.
Also, public service announcements, featuring actor Leslie Nielsen, were awarded a Telly and a NATOA Award for use of humor. The spots featured Water Services staff and Mr. Nielsen in black suits and sunglasses ringing the same woman’s door bell and annoyingly reminding her to place grease and cooking oil in the trash, use water responsibly and pay her Phoenix water bill online.
The new WATERways 11 is now showing on PHX 11. The informative and entertaining episode covers finding leaks in home plumbing lines, customer water audits, restaurant spray nozzle retrofits, a new conservation door hanger program, how water is used to make ice for ice hockey and the newest Phoenix water treatment plant.
PHX 11 also continues to air WATERways 10; which features public service announcements with Leslie Nielsen and covers a multitude of water and wastewater topics.
