PHX 11, the city of Phoenix’s news and information station, recently won nine Telly Awards during the 28th Annual Telly Award ceremony. The awards honor the best local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as video and film productions. The Telly Awards have been around since 1978 with a mission to strengthen the visual arts community.
“Phoenix: Working For You,” the station’s series of live primetime call-in programs won Tellys in both the government and education categories.
Other winners were “Meth: Don’t Even Start,” two “Waterways” programs for the Water Services Department and the department’s public service announcement, “Men in Dragnet Water.” “Destination Phoenix Sky Harbor” and Councilmember Michael Johnson’s On the Issues program with Hurricane Katrina victims also received awards.
“Phoenix: Working For You: NSD” also won a Hermes Creative Award, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs. The awards are judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.
