A free public health fair will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Desert West Community Center, 6501 W. Virginia Ave. hosted by the city of Phoenix’s Human Services Department Senior Services Division.
The fair, offered to adults 60 years of age or older, will provide information on health issues, including exercise demonstrations and body fat, blood pressure and glucose screenings. Flu shots will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon by the Art Mollen Clinic on a first-come, first-served basis, and vision and hearing screenings will be provided. Entertainment also will be offered by Dennis “DJ” Jones.
The health fair is sponsored by Evercare Health Plans & Secure Horizons and supports the recommendations of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative Ad-Hoc Committee.
The city's Human Services Department operates 17 senior centers within the Phoenix area, which provide people, 60 years or older or adults with disabilities, with many opportunities and services to assist and enrich their lives.
