The city of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office will host a grant workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Safe Haven – University Park, 1002 W. Van Buren St., to assist property owners of designated historic homes whose income qualifies them to receive financial assistance on rehabilitation projects.
The workshop will help applicants learn about the program, how to complete an application and the funding process.
The Low-Income Historic Housing Rehabilitation Program was created to encourage the repair and rehabilitation of historic residential properties while providing housing opportunities for persons and families with low incomes.
The program funds critical structural stabilization, and repair and rehabilitation of historic exterior features such as roofs, exterior walls and porches.
Funding requests can range from $2,000 to $25,000, with the city providing up to 70 percent of project costs.
For more information or to download an application, visit phoenix.gov/historic/affhou.html. To request Spanish translation or arrange for special accommodations at the workshop, call in advance to 602-261-8699.
