Phoenix Public Library will host a free author reading from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave. The event is part of The Big Read initiative.
Charles J. Shields will read from his book, “Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee.” The book explores the colorful life of the remarkable woman who wrote “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Despite the book’s popularity, Lee became a somewhat mysterious figure.
